Luo heritage takes centre stage as eleven cultural communities, a marketplace of homegrown suppliers and a Naivas Fresh food experience converge for the campaign’s grand finale, a statement that at Naivas, home is bigger than any one community.

KISUMU, KENYA Friday, 18 September 2026 Naivas Supermarkets today marked the climax of the first quarter of its 2027 Financial Year campaign, Naivas Ni Kwetu (“Naivas is Home”), with a Cultural Day celebration in Kisumu that placed the Luo community’s rich heritage at the heart of a broader regional tapestry and put the company’s customer promise on full, festive display.

The event, owned and curated by the Naivas Marketing function alongside cultural advisers engaged locally in Kisumu, brought together eleven cultural representations: the Luo community as anchor, alongside the Kisii (Gusii), Suba, Kuria, Luhya, Teso, Samia, Kipsigis, Nandi and Maasai communities, and the Asian Community whose enterprise has long been woven into the region’s story.

“Every community you see represented here was curated in partnership with Thed Museums Of Kenya, Kisumu together with advisors from those communities. The strategic point is simple: at Naivas, home is bigger than any one community. Our customers come from everywhere, and home as we understand it, must be big enough for all of them.” said Florence Saronge, Head of Marketing at Naivas.

Regional and national suppliers showcased and sampled their products directly to the public transforming the day from ceremony into commerce. The Marketplace offered the clearest practical demonstration of what “homegrown” means at Naivas: local producers standing inside a national retail platform, reaching customers at scale.

A genuine cultural food experience built around Naivas Fresh turned the company’s fresh food proposition into something guests could literally taste. Regional dishes were prepared properly and sourced through Naivas’ own fresh supply chain demonstrating, in the most tangible way possible, how the company’s commercial story becomes edible.

The day closed with all cultural groups converging in one high energy performance the visual and emotional summit of the entire quarter’s campaign. Captured for the Board and for national broadcast channels, the finale embodies the campaign’s founding idea: many cultures, one home, one Naivas.

Naivas Ni Kwetu is the company’s flagship FY2027 Q1 campaign built on a single conviction: retail leadership in Kenya is earned at the intersection of commerce and community. With a footprint spanning the country, Naivas serves customers in virtually every cultural context Kenya contains. The Kisumu Cultural Day converts that reality from strategy into lived experience for customers, for suppliers, and for the colleagues who serve them daily.

The event also underscores Naivas’ continued investment in the Western Kenya region, where the company’s fresh-sourcing networks and supplier partnerships support local livelihoods while strengthening the supply chain that delivers freshness to shelves countrywide.

Andreas von Palseke, Chief Executive Officer of Naivas, said: “Naivas Ni Kwetu is our promise made visible. When a customer walks into any of our stores in Kisumu, in Nairobi, in Mombasa, anywhere, they should feel that the store understands the home they come from. Today, Kisumu taught the whole company what that feels like. We are deeply honoured to be guests of this community.”

Jorsen Patten, Chief Commercial Officer of Naivas, said: “Culture and commerce are not competing agendas, they are the same agenda. The Marketplace you see here is our commercial model in miniature: regional and national suppliers, local sourcing, and a platform that turns homegrown quality into national reach. The data tells us customers reward authenticity. Today, they can see it, taste it, and buy it.”
