Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has lauded the country’s remarkable progress in the tourism sector, crediting it to the visionary leadership of President William Ruto . Speaking during a church service at PCEA Joshua Matenjwa Memorial Church in Limuru, Kiambu County, CS Miano highlighted how tourism has become a key driver of economic transformation across Kenya.
Miano described Kenya as a land of “breathtaking beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality” that is now receiving unprecedented global attention. She noted that visitor numbers are steadily increasing, foreign currency earnings are on the rise, and most importantly, livelihoods are being transformed.
“Tourism is not just about numbers—it’s about people,” she emphasized. “It’s about the young men and women securing meaningful jobs in hotels, tour companies, and cultural centers. It’s about communities gaining economic empowerment through eco-tourism projects and cultural exchanges. The ripple effect of a single visitor choosing Kenya benefits countless lives.”
Miano acknowledged that while challenges remain, they should not overshadow the achievements made so far. She urged Kenyans to focus on what can be accomplished through unity and shared responsibility.
“Tourism is a shared responsibility—it’s about how we welcome the world, how we protect our natural heritage, and how we tell Kenya’s story to every corner of the globe,” she said.
The CS called on citizens to be ambassadors for the nation by celebrating progress, supporting youth initiatives, and empowering local communities. She stressed that tourism’s success depends on collective effort and pride in the country’s cultural and environmental heritage.
“In this sacred setting, let us remember that progress is a blessing,” Miano told the worshippers. “The work we do to uplift our communities reflects our shared faith and unity. With gratitude in our hearts and purpose in our actions, we can build a brighter future for all.”
