
Lazizi Welfare Foundation, a registered nonprofit organisation dedicated to education, healthcare, conservation, and community development, hosted a heartwarming Tree Lighting Ceremony at Crowne Plaza Nairobi. The event brought together students from Nifikie Christian School in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, an underserved settlement, offering them a rare festive experience and a message of hope for a brighter future.
The celebration marked more than just the holiday season; it symbolised the Lazizi Welfare Foundation’s unwavering commitment to quality education for every child. In line with
Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) reforms: the foundation announced plans to fund the construction of a Grade 9 classroom at Nifikie Christian School. This initiative, costing approximately KES 500,000, ensures continuity for students beyond Grade 8.
addressing a critical gap for children in Mukuru who often face educational disruption due to limited school infrastructure.
“This Christmas, we are giving the gift of opportunity,” said Steve Raburu, Project Manager, Lazizi Welfare Foundation. “By supporting the Grade 9 classroom, we are not only helping 33 students transition smoothly but also creating a generational impact; every child from Grade 1 onwards will have a guaranteed path to higher learning.”
The partnership between Lazizi Welfare Foundation and Nifikie Christian School has
already transformed lives through feeding programmes, stationery provision, and psychosocial support. According to Stacy Kefuka, Director of Nifikie Christian School.
“Our collaboration with the Lazizi Foundation has been a lifeline. Beyond education, they bring love, meals, and essential supplies, making school a safe and nurturing space for over 300 children. Today’s tree lighting event is an eye-opener for these kids, showing them a world of possibilities.”
The festive event featured shared meals, and interactive activities, reinforcing the
foundation’s vision: every child deserves quality education and an opportunity, and nature should be protected for future generations.
As the Lazizi Welfare Foundation celebrates two years of official operations, its focus is shifting toward sustainable impact, from education access to child welfare and infrastructural development.
