The National Construction Authority (NCA) has issued a public notice warning contractors who have failed to renew their annual practising licences for two consecutive years that they risk deletion from the official register of contractors.
The Authority has issued a notice saying that the National Construction Authority Act, 2011, empowers the NCA Board to remove from the register any contractor who does not pay annual subscription fees for two consecutive years.
“Pursuant to Section 25(1)(c) of the Act, the Board of the Authority is empowered to delete the name of any registered contractor who fails to pay annual subscription fees for two (2) consecutive years.” Maurice Akech said.
The National Contractor Authority also refers to the Executive Director as the Registrar of Contractors.
Additionally, Akech stated that “A contractor whose name has been deleted from the register shall not be registered afresh under any other name” according to Section 25(5) of the Act.
According to the NCA, contractors who had not renewed their Annual Practising Licenses for two consecutive years as of 1st January 2026 are liable for removal from the NCA Register of Contractors.
“Accordingly, the Authority hereby notifies all contractors who have not renewed their Annual Practicing Licences for two (2) consecutive years, as at 1st January 2026, that their names stand to be deleted from the NCA Register of Contractors.” Akech noted.
To avoid deletion and remain in good standing, affected contractors have been directed to clear all outstanding annual renewal fees on or before 10th February 2026.
“To remain in good standing, all contractors are required to settle outstanding annual renewal fees on or before 10th February 2026.” Akech affirmed.
The NCA also reminded contractors that renewal of an Annual Practicing Licence requires the mandatory accumulation of ten Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, which must be earned through attendance at NCA or NCA-accredited CPD seminars, in accordance with Regulation 14 of the NCA Regulations (2014).
Akech directed that “all renewals shall be processed through the NCA online portal via https://portal.nca.go.ke. Or https://portal.nca.go.ke
