Naivas Supermarket announces new leadership Transition

Naivas Supermarkets, Kenya’s leading retail chain, has announced a leadership transition as part of its long-term growth strategy. Effective November 1, 2025, Andreas von Paleske, currently the Chief of Strategy, will take over as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding long-serving CEO and founding member, David Kimani.Andreas, who joined Naivas eight years ago, has been instrumental in shaping the retailer’s strategic direction during a period of rapid expansion. Working alongside David Kimani, he has helped steer Naivas to its current position as the country’s largest supermarket chain, with over 100 stores nationwide and a solid reputation for market leadership.Marking the company’s 35th anniversary, David Kimani has chosen this milestone moment to hand over the reins. He will, however, continue to play an active role in the business, working closely with Peter, Charles, and the Mukuha family to support the company’s ongoing success.“Having achieved several landmark milestones in the past few years, and with a strong leadership team in place, I could not think of a better opportunity than our 35-year anniversary to pass on the baton to Andreas,” said David Kimani.Arnaud Lagesse, Chairman of Naivas International, praised Kimani’s legacy and expressed confidence in Andreas’s leadership. “David’s role in laying the foundations of one of Kenya’s corporate success stories is truly commendable. With Andreas, we have the right leader to take the business to even greater heights. He brings deep industry experience and a strong understanding of Naivas’ culture and values. His appointment ensures continuity and positions the company for its next phase of growth.”As Naivas looks to the future, the company reaffirmed its commitment to delivering value to customers, partners, and communities. The leadership transition reflects its continued focus on sustainable growth, operational excellence, and innovation in Kenya’s dynamic retail sector.
