Wanyonyi positions himself as Bungoma’s clean bet for 2027 governor race

Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has intensified his push for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat, presenting himself as a clean, reform-oriented leader committed to ending goonism and transforming the county through inclusive development.

As he tours various parts of Bungoma, his message of unity, integrity, and service delivery is gaining traction among residents and local opinion leaders.

During recent engagements in Kabuchai and Kanduyi constituencies, Wanyonyi outlined a people-centered vision for the county.

“Our aim is to see a county that is accommodative of everyone, a county that empowers its people, and one that is strategic enough to be profiled positively to attract investments that will help our economy grow and provide opportunities for our people. Together, we will get there,” said Wanyonyi.

In an emotional return to his rural home in Mukhweya, he reflected on his upbringing and sought blessings from the community.

“Home is a place where we receive our first blessings. Today, my heart is at peace to have returned to the village I grew up in, Mukhweya in Chwele–Kabuchai Ward, Kabuchai Constituency, to thank them for the discipline they instilled in me to become who I am today, and to seek their blessings and support for the journey ahead,” he said.

Wanyonyi said his gubernatorial bid is anchored on a shared vision with the people of Bungoma.

“I shared my vision and dream for a Bungoma that has opportunities for everyone, one that can be a centre of development reference across the country, leadership that I am willing and ready to offer as the next Governor,” he added.

He also highlighted the strong reception he has received across the county.

“I am out of words for the amazing passion and love shown by my people, and most importantly for allowing me now to go out and seek support so that we can realise the bigger dream of fixing our county. I am more encouraged going forward, knowing that this journey does not belong to me, but to the thousands of people who want the best for our county.”

On development priorities, Wanyonyi pledged major investments in agriculture, healthcare, and social welfare.

“As an agricultural county, we must ensure we invest heavily in agriculture. We have to make sure our farmers can access farm inputs and help them get markets for what they produce, even outside our county,” he said.

“Health, being a devolved function, we will ensure our hospitals are well stocked with drugs and our doctors’ welfare is taken care of so that they can be available to attend to our people.”

“For our senior citizens, under the TimCare program, the county government under my leadership will help them clear their SHA cover to access medical attention wherever they need it without struggle, as we also ensure all mothers giving birth are cleared of medical bills.”

“For everyone living in Bungoma, this is your county and no one will be discriminated against when seeking any county government services. I will open those doors that have been closed to you for long and ensure the county cake reaches everyone.”

During a public engagement in East Sang’alo Ward, Kanduyi Constituency, he continued to rally support.

“I engaged the people of East Sang’alo Ward in Kanduyi Constituency at The Living Prophetic Church grounds. Thank you my good people for the wonderful reception and lively engagement.”

His bid has drawn praise from local leaders and residents who describe him as a principled and compassionate leader.

Bungoma-based businessman Jared Wetangula lauded Wanyonyi’s integrity and consistency.

“Timothy Wanyonyi is a clean leader who has consistently demonstrated integrity in public service. He has a good heart for the people, especially the needy, and Bungoma stands to benefit from his leadership,” he said.

Religious leader and patriot Juliet Barasa praised his focus on service and transformation.

“He believes in empowering people through education and improving livelihoods. Wanyonyi is not about politics of goons but about service delivery and real transformation,” she said.

Trader and businesswoman Janet Nyongesa described him as a unifying and inclusive leader.

“He has always shown compassion and fairness. His leadership will ensure that no one is left behind, and he will open up opportunities for all residents of Bungoma,” she said.

Community leader Bethuel Wanyonyi emphasized his development track record.

“He has proven himself in Westlands, and we believe he will replicate the same in Bungoma by improving hospitals, markets, and education systems while ensuring peace and ending goonism,” he said.

With a campaign anchored on clean politics, grassroots mobilization, and a strong development agenda, Wanyonyi is steadily positioning himself as a formidable contender in Bungoma’s 2027 gubernatorial race.
